Free Lunchtime Tours

This month, we launched our brand-new, volunteer-led heritage tours of St Mary Magdalene Church – and they’ve proven extremely popular!

If you missed out on our January tour, you’ll be pleased to hear that we’ve added an additional date to our programme, giving you two opportunities to join us in February.

Led by volunteer guides, the tours offer visitors the opportunity to explore one of the finest examples of neo-Gothic architecture in the country. Beginning in the nave, the tour takes in the church’s rich Victorian heritage, and studies the great vision of architect, G.E. Street. A visit to the undercroft, later in the tour, explores the limitations that the architect faced in his design, and delves into the vital role of the church in bringing the local community together.

Visitors will also learn about the building’s recent extensive restoration programme, and are invited visit our new, state-of-the-art community wing.

Don’t miss out. Book your free space.
