Over six weeks in the summer, five young people from a local Westminster school took part in the Digital Takeover The Future programme at Grand Junction.

Led by videographer Narvir Singh, the students learned how film and digital media can be used to share local history and bring stories to life. They explored North Paddington, interviewing local residents about past and present memories and stories, capturing photographs of the area, and writing poetry that reflected both community heritage and their own hopes for the future.

DIGITAL TAKEOVER THE FUTURE – YEAR 1 FILMS

Part 1: Broadly Speaking

Students set the scene by sharing original poems inspired by their experiences on the programme.

Part 2: Local Stories

Through interviews with local residents Paul, Jamma, and Keltoum, the students learned about their lives and experiences in Westminster.

Part 3: Local Stories

Quick-fire questions with local residents Paul, Jamma, and Keltoum, sharing their wisdom.

Part 4: Our Voice

The students share their views on the world and society through original poems by reflecting on their own dreams for the future.

Digital Takeover the Future programme will be back in 2026 with a new group of young people.
