You Are Here Heritage Events: Sudan Series: Neighbourhood Nights

On 12 February 2026, we hosted our second evening in the Sudan Series as part of You Are Here project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The evening was co-curated by Sudanese poet Eljae and multidisciplinary artist Ahmed Akasha, in collaboration with Shubbak Festival.

The evening brought together music, storytelling and community, with Ahmed Al-Lord leading a workshop exploring the history of Sudanese music, followed by a live performance of traditional folk music. Traditional folk tales from across Sudan were shared by Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Afia Abusham and Ola Elhassan, while our Undercroft was transformed into a games room where guests could discover and play traditional games from across Sudan.
