Description
REGGAE JUNCTION: STUDIO ONE AND THE CREATION OF REGGAE
A unique event discussing, showcasing and celebrating the birth of Reggae and its conception at Studio One (Kingston, Jamaica). It will highlight the work of Studio One founder, Sir Clement Coxsone Dodd, and the evolution it went through from its humble beginnings to becoming a global phenomenon and a musical genre in its own right.
An immersive experience of oral and live music history will take you back to the origins and foundations of the genre. The evening will start with a panel discussion of foundation music experts, artists, MCs and selectors discussing the Studio One legacy and how it created the sound we now know as Reggae. It will then continue with music and live performances from MCs and Studio One artists singing on Studio One rhythms, on a traditional custom-made sound system, courtesy of Jarva Nuclear Power.
