One of the finest pianists of his generation” (Jazzwise) and acclaimed spoken word artist collaborate for an evening of lockdown literary daydreams.

Pianist, organist and composer Kit Downes joins forces with writer Sally O’Reilly to perform a collection of stories and music exclusively for Comfort and Courage. Featuring Kit playing an array of instruments including the church’s organ and pipe organ, plus special guests Ruth Goller (bass) and Giacomo Smith (reeds), expect an evening of literary daydreams to lose yourself in.

Even At Home We are Never Alone will be performed live from Grand Junction, and then the concert will be available to watch on-demand for 14 days after the live event.

Regarded as one of the UK’s outstanding jazz talents, BBC Jazz Award winner and Mercury Award nominee Kit Downes tours the world playing piano, church organ and harmonium with his own bands, and has released two albums on ECM Records – Obsidian and Dreamlife of Debris.

Sally O’Reilly writes for performance, page and video, interleaving academic research and technical knowledge with the comic, the fantastical and the psycho-social. She has written the novel Crude, the libretto for the opera The Virtues of Things, amongst others.
