OPPORTUNITY

Young Love & Wanted Filmmaker (Freelance)

Local Young Filmmaker for Loved & Wanted Programme at Grand Junction – Freelance (Flexible, 3 days per month)

We are looking for a local freelance video creator aged 18 – 25 to become our Loved & Wanted filmmaker.

We are proud to be one of the Mayor of London’s 30 Loved & Wanted community spaces. Funding will support a programme of events and activities that bring our local community together. This includes community meals, community festivals, an informal English-language conversation session, as well as other community and arts activities.

As part of the programme we are looking for a young creative to work alongside our marketing team to film and edit content for our social media channels. You will help document and amplify the community-led cultural work at Grand Junction and celebrate the Loved & Wanted message that everyone is loved, valued and welcome at our venue.

This is a paid flexible freelance opportunity for someone at the start of their creative career who wants hands-on experience working within a community arts and heritage setting, while building their portfolio.

What we are looking for
A young freelance filmmaker who can:

  • Film and edit engaging short-form video content each month that promotes the Loved & Wanted message across our diverse programme. This may include, but not be limited to, capturing event and classes footage, interviews and b-roll (approx. one filming and two editing days per month, depending on monthly project needs).
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to plan content, including being able to receive constructive feedback, respond through making changes where needed, and deliver updated content within agreed timelines.
  • Feel confident to engage with local community members, including conducting short interviews or ‘vox pops’. Support and training can be provided in this area.
  • Ensure all content aligns with Grand Junction’s brand guidelines.
  • Work flexibly to use the guaranteed monthly days to cover the programmed events as required.
  • Be organised and able to work independently, and deliver to agreed deadlines – you will be supported by the marketing team for feedback and development opportunities.

Details
Start date: October 2026 (Ideally first filming day on Thursday 8 October, for Loved & Wanted To The Table event)
Fee: £104 per day for 3 flexible days per month (exact schedule for these days to be agreed with the Marketing Manager; days are flexible and may range from a full working day to a shorter filming or editing session, depending on requirements)
You can use your own device or equipment, and we can support access to basic filming equipment if needed.

This is a 12 month contract (with potential for extension)

Our ideal candidate will be from the area local to Grand Junction, extending to the boroughs of Westminster, Brent, Camden, and Kensington & Chelsea. But, if you are London-based, and think this could be the right role for you, we are still keen to hear from you.

Interested in applying?

We would love to hear from you! Please send

  • CV and a short cover letter (between 1 – 2 sides of A4) outlining why you are interested in becoming our young filmmaker. In your cover letter please address the points above under ‘What we are looking for’ to tell us why you are the right person.
  • Examples of previous works (e.g. links to videos and/or portfolio)
