Join us for a unique evening of discussion and music celebrating Studio One, the history of Reggae and its arrival in West London

Studio One Talk (7pm – 8pm)

Hear our panel discuss the history and significance of Studio One, alongside archive footage of the founder, Sir Clement Coxsone Dodd, and music from DJ selectors.

Facilitated and hosted by Valerie Vamanrav – Journalist, writer, filmmaker, producer, promoter, and DJ.

Panel lineup:
Mandingo – Journalist and Jamaican Reggae historian.
Mikey Red – Reggae historian, musician, producer, and radio presenter.
Macca – Java Sound System manager, selector, and producer.
Chris Peckings – Peckings Records, producer, radio presenter, and DJ.
Joe 90 – Artist, MC, DJ, radio presenter, and host.

Music and live performance (8pm – 11pm)

Studio One music will be played on the Java Nuclear Power Sound System by selectors from the panel.  Artists performing on the night will include Clint Eastwood, Anthony Johnson, Joe90, and Cowboy. Full line-up to be announced

Limited edition Studio One Bloodline merchandise will be on sale, as well as traditional Jamaican food and fresh juices.

Reggae Junction will be a unique evening of discussion and music celebrating Studio One, the history of Reggae, and its arrival in west London.  From its foundations at Studio One (Kingston, Jamaica) to becoming a seminal global genre. The evening will start with a panel discussion and continue with music and live performances.

Venue: Grand Junction is a new venue for the community, arts and culture based at St Mary Magdalene Church. Our mission is to create and present an eclectic, collaborative programme of music, arts and performance for young people, families and adults. We also have a café serving delicious food overlooking the canal.
