Me and My Friends

Sat 2 October, 20:00

The genre-defying quintet bring their afro-infused grooves soaked in folk harmony to W2.

Me and My Friends play soulful, poignant and gloriously danceable music that draws influence from vintage Ghanaian highlife, Jamaican roots and Afro-Brazilian folk.

The West African finger-picking guitar style of Nick Rasle is cradled by stunning vocal harmonies and the evocative combination of cello and clarinet, all underpinned by a vibrant rhythm section with a deeply infectious groove. This is sun-drenched music to brighten up a dark October evening.

Alongside playing songs from their three critically acclaimed albums, featured on BBC Radio 2, 4, and 6Music and receiving plaudits from the likes of Giles Peterson, Me and My Friends will mark the release of their new EP, Reworks – which they released back in June this year.

“Unusual instrumental forces create a sublime fusion that combines pastoral dreaminess with the heat of reggae, highlife and Afrobeat sounds.”
