A 10-week career programme offering a unique route into the museum, arts and heritage sectors.
Open for Black, Asian and other global majority young people aged 18-24.
We are no longer accepting application for Heritage Training Academy starting September 2023. Please keep an eye on our website for future opportunities.
All participants will receive a bursary of £300 for attending all 12 sessions.
Out of pocket travel expenses are covered up to £10 per session.
Looking for a job doing something a bit different? Could a career working in a museum or at a historic building be for you?
A job in heritage is about being part of telling stories and celebrating our diverse histories. On this course you will explore what it is like to work in heritage and museums through interactive learning sessions, project, tours, and talks.
Our programme includes:
- Event planning: create a real life event for the public
- Curating: research histories and use your own voice to tell unique stories
- Guest speakers from the museum and heritage sectors
- Networking opportunities with industry professionals
- External visits to museums and heritage sites
- Professional skills training
- Jobs and training opportunities
Two participants will have the opportunity to go on to paid freelancer roles at Grand Junction. Support and signposting for all participants will continue for 6 months after the course has finished.
This is a 10-week programme of 12 sessions, including two field trips.
