Welcome to George’s Marvellous Music: A Celebration of George & Ira Gershwin. This special event commemorates the centenary of ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ by bringing back to life an old silver clarinet, which played on the premiere all those years ago. Gershwin’s music is truly timeless, with classic hits such as ‘Someone to watch over me’ and ‘I got rhythm’ renowned across the world. Gershwin broke down barriers in ways few other composers managed, fusing the popular worlds of jazz and theatre with the salons and orchestral halls of Europe. To that end, George’s Marvellous Music presents a unique ensemble including a string quartet, vocal jazz sextet and accordion, bringing together old friends and new to explore this ‘Fascinating Rhythm’ in a new light. Join us for a toe-tapping musical adventure as we take you back to NYC in the Roaring 20s!
