The Arab British Centre, Arts Canteen and Shubbak Festival are joined by Zaytoun CIC, The Sonic Agent and Saqi Books to invite you to Gather For Gaza to raise money for urgent humanitarian aid by Medical Aid for Palestinians.

A message from the organisers “We have been watching with horror and broken hearts the events unfolding in Gaza. As organisations dedicated to platforming the arts, heritage and cultures of the Arab world and beyond, we have joined forces to present an evening of music, poetry, a healing circle and stalls in solidarity with Palestine and to raise funds for relief efforts in Gaza. At this painful time we look to art and the coming together of all communities for solidarity, action, grieving and healing and hope you will join us this Thursday 26 October.

We have been committed to collectively organising a space to come together and raise funds for the urgent humanitarian work by Medical Aid for Palestinians on the ground in Gaza.”

Medical Aid for Palestinians

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works in partnership with Palestinian communities to uphold their rights to health and dignity. We do this by developing effective, sustainable and locally-led healthcare services, providing medical aid during emergencies, and campaigning to break down the barriers to Palestinian health and healthcare today and for the future.  

MAP’s Emergency Appeal is responding to the current emergency in Gaza, where MAP’s team is releasing essential drugs, disposables, and essential healthcare supplies to hospitals struggling to cope with an influx of serious injuries.

Today we have offices in the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem, Lebanon and London. With our extensive local knowledge and experience, we work closely with communities, hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers to coordinate care and medical aid even where there are severe restrictions on access.

MAP provides immediate medical aid to those in need at times of crisis, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.

We are also committed to speaking out against injustices that prevent Palestinians from fully enjoying their rights to health and dignity, and campaign to ensure the voices of Palestinians impacted by occupation, displacement and conflict are heard at the highest levels.
